Bio

Bharat Tandon got his undergraduate degree in economics from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University in 1984. He is a member of the class of 1986 from The Fuqua School of Business, where he earned an MBA. After returning to India, he joined his family business in the industrial gasses field, expanding the business and establishing his company as the largest manufacturer of carbon dioxide gas in north India. Thereafter he also set up a hydrogen and oxygen plant.

In 1995, Tandon joined SABIC India and in 2001, he was appointed as CEO of the company. Since then, he has served as the Managing Director and has contributed to growing the business from 232M USD to over 1B USD. Tandon is also active on various Indian industry associations. He is co-chairman of Assocham’s Expert Committee on Petroleum & Petrochemicals since 2008, a member of Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Committee on Chemicals since 2001, and member of FICCI’s National Committee on Chemicals. He is a member of the India Regional Advisory Board of Duke University, and he is on the Board of Visitors at Fuqua.
