Career Management Center Christiana Wu

The Career Management Center

Fuqua’s difference comes from our Career Management Center (CMC), a team of professionals with industry and functional expertise who collaborate with students as well as potential employers.

Student and Alumni Services staff provide individual coaching, workshops, and other programs for current students and alumni.

Sector Teams are focused in specific industries, sharing information with students and connecting prospective employers with Fuqua. They advise sector recruiters on an effective on-campus presence and help students hone their search strategy in the target sector.

Recruiting and Operations Services staff support the CMC and its stakeholders with effective business operations and technology. The recruiting team executes on-campus recruiting activities and spring interview forums.

Career Coaches provide 1:1 coaching, in-person or virtually, tailored to individual needs. Fuqua's staff help you navigate all aspects of successful career management, from the start of your program to beyond graduation.

We jump right in at orientation with a briefing on our career management resources and the MBA career landscape to spark your thinking, then you decide how best to proceed. Throughout your program, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with a career coach for one-on-one consultation, access Fuqua’s online tools and resources, and participate in workshops and events.

Individual Coaching

Our career coaches possess a variety of experience to meet your needs, and the process will be driven by you and your objectives. Coaching is optional and confidential. You can meet your coach in person during residencies, and they’re accessible via email and video-conference.

Clubs

Fuqua students are known for taking initiative, shaping the program experience in ways that support each other’s goals. Your class may choose to form professional clubs that draw on the expertise and company connections in your cohort to help classmates explore that area or industry. Past organizations have included Consulting, Finance, Entrepreneurship, Women in Business, Energy & the Environment, Health Care, and Net Impact.

Corporate Visits

These visits help you explore different companies and industries firsthand. As part of your residency curriculum, you’ll tour facilities and meet with managers to learn how business gets done. Company leaders will share industry trends and current business challenges.

Here are a few recent visits:

  • Honeywell – Shanghai, China
  • TVN Media – Panama City, Panama
  • Operation Asha – New Delhi, India
  • Almaviva Winery – Santiago, Chile

Alumni Panels

These panels bring graduates from different industries to visit your residencies for discussions that help you understand business in that part of the world. They may share personal stories about working internationally, provide advice on navigating your career, and discuss industry trends.

You have the opportunity to participate in a number of workshops and other career management activities throughout your experience. These events are customized to meet the unique needs of your class. They will be conducted during residencies or will be recorded and made available on your learning platform.

Making a Career Transition

We offer multiple sessions covering the best strategies, tools, and tactics for successfully advancing, shifting, or completely changing your career. We’ll cover topics like self-assessment, prioritizing your search, effective outreach and exploration, and self-promotion.

Career Symposiums & Career Intensives

These panel discussions convene alumni and company representatives to highlight a broad spectrum of careers.

Sector Chats

These virtual or small-group discussions with CMC staff and Fuqua alumni provide perspectives on MBA functions and industries, such as consulting, finance, marketing, social impact/nonprofit, general management, energy, high tech, and health care.
