Selection Criteria

A good match is important from both sides—yours and ours—so we take a holistic approach to considering your candidacy. Each of the components of your application gives you the chance to demonstrate your strengths and fit with Fuqua. You’ll be considered a strong applicant if:

  • We’re confident you will be successful in our program (which requires having a high English proficiency)
  • You’ll add value to Fuqua and your peers through your professional, personal, and academic experiences
  • You believe diversity in thought and background are important within your professional life and community
  • You demonstrate competence, character, and purpose and have the strongest potential to be a leader who is a positive force for change

Although not required for admission, your prior work experience helps us understand how you’ve developed on both a professional and personal level.

  • There is no minimum work experience required for this program
  • Any paid or unpaid work experience will be considered, including volunteer, part-time work, internships, and student clubs and activities.
  • In your application, show us how your work experience has helped you mature, gain leadership and teamwork skills, and how it will help you be an active contributor in the online Fuqua learning environment.

Fuqua admits candidates to the MSQM: Business Analytics online program who have strong quantitative and business or data analytics skills and who will excel in a demanding, fast-paced environment. We admit applicants with:

  • Undergraduate degrees from a 4-year accredited college or university in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, economics, or an equivalent quantitative major
  • A strong performance in quantitative courses including math, statistics, and computer science
  • GPAs and GMAT or GRE scores that reflect your academic abilities, with particular attention paid to the quantitative segment. (For mid-career candidates with concerns about taking the GMAT, please contact the admissions office to discuss alternatives.)

Your application essays, recommendation, resume, and interview are what weave fit, passion, and impact together into your "story." No one part is more important than the other, so give each one your best. And most importantly, just be you.

CV or Resume:

You must include a current 1-page professional resume. Please start with your current position and include employment information (full and part-time) and relevant volunteer work, internships, or student club or organization positions. Your education section should show dates of attendance and degrees received.

Essay:

Your essay lets you share your perspective and help us understand what drives and inspires you, personally and at work. Use your essay to fill in any gaps or provide extra details on key areas of your application.

Recommendation:

A recommendation provides a third-party perspective on your ability to succeed at Fuqua. Your recommendation should reflect your performance in a professional setting. Prepare your recommender so s/he represents you well and showcases aspects of you that are not reflected in other areas of the application.

Interview:

You can schedule an interview once you begin the application process. Most interviews will occur via video-conference; North Carolina residents may have the opportunity to interview on campus by invitation. Both formats carry equal weight in the admissions process, and is required before your application is complete. Interviews are conducted by Fuqua staff who will ask you a variety of questions about your work experience, educational background, and personal interests. At the conclusion, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions.

During your interview, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Show us your interpersonal skills
  • Discuss your educational background and personal interests
  • Demonstrate how you and Fuqua are a good fit
